Houston comes alive with free performances citywide as Make Music Day returns for its sixth year on Sunday, June 21, 2026 — perfectly timed with Father’s Day and the FIFA World Cup.
Organized by Fresh Arts and part of the global Fête de la Musique (now celebrated in thousands of cities across 120 countries), the event turns streets, parks, businesses, and public spaces into stages for musicians of all levels — from amateurs to professionals.
This year’s celebration aligns perfectly with the FIFA World Cup and Father’s Day, adding international energy and family-friendly programming that highlights Houston’s cultural diversity and brings generations together.

“Make Music Day has always been about access and joy,” said Fresh Arts Program Director Gracie Chávez. “This year we have a powerful opportunity to celebrate music as a universal language that connects us across cultures and generations.”
The 2026 event will focus on:
Showcasing Houston’s cultural diversity through globally inspired performances
Creating more opportunities for local music makers
Activating new and nontraditional spaces across the city
