The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston will host a screening of Once Upon My Mother, the 2026 Audience Choice Feature Film Winner at the Houston Jewish Film Festival, as part of its Summer Film Series on Thursday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Inspired by Roland Perez’s bestselling memoir, this French-language film tells the moving story of a devoted mother who refuses to accept the limitations placed on her son after he is born with a disability. Spanning several decades, it explores themes of resilience, family, and unconditional love through a heartfelt and often humorous journey.
